Construction of the World Trade Center
spaceBegun in the 1960s, construction of the 1,368 and 1,362 foot World Trade Center towers finished in 1972. Almost immediately, the buildings opened their doors to the public. The north tower could be distinguished from the south tower because it had a 360-foot telecommunications antenna on its roof. It was such a massive building that it even had its own zip code, 10048.
